Fourth Time's the Charm!

On September 28th, Space-X reached orbit on their 4th attempt with the Falcon 1 rocket. The payload for the flight was a 165 kg aluminum chamber, which remains attached to the second stage. The eliptical orbit is 500 km by 700 km, with a 9.2 degree inclination. This means it will be nigh unto invisible in the United States, except perhaps from South Point in Hawaii, where it's greatest height will be between 8 and 3 degrees above the horizon, depending on which part of the orbit is encountered there. At any rate, Congratulations to SpaceX!

  1. Cool blog. I like the premis...and am a bit disillusioned with politics of late myself. It would be nice to have a new frontier colony for some of us to escape to! :) Glad the X finally made it!

  2. Thanks! Space-X did make it, but I am a bit worried about Space-X and Elon Musk's other investment, Tesla Motors, when viewed against a faltering economy.

  4. Hi James,

I did a little investigating and think I've managed to add a subscription link to the blog. Let me know if this suffices.

  5. You now have an Atom link, which definitely works as most feed readers are integrated these days.

    Gratzi!
